Eats

Local Gem

In the battle of ice cream or gelato - I am team gelato all the way.

Newcastle has a few options for tasty gelato, and trust me, I have sampled a few. But what seems to take the cake is Monella.

Located in the heart of Darby Street, Monela has a large assortment of tasty gelato, from the basics to the extravagant. I love the Blondie, which is peanut butter gelato, caramel fudge, salted caramel sauce, and blondie brownie chunks. My partner's favourite is the Michael Jackson, which is milk gelato, dulce de leche caramel jam, and chocolate fudge brownie chunks.

What better to have as an after-dinner snack on a hot day? Check them out.

Throwback

Everybody’s favourite foreshore fixation, the fantastical phallic feature. An eye-sore or an icon, many people seem to miss this former landmark but does anyone remember its purpose or if it even had one?

Can someone more knowledgable please actually reply and tell me its purpose, I’m curious.

Newcastle NYE

NYE in Newcastle tends to be quite the spectacle, but without appropriate preparations, you will definitely miss out.

As per usual, the Queens Wharf Precinct will be transformed into a welcoming and vibrant community party featuring family-friendly activities, bike parades, live music, local food providers, and the must-see 9pm fireworks.

In the next couple of editions, I will go into more depth to help with your New Year’s plans. Can’t wait? Hunter Hunter has but together a great NYE Guide, here is a link to it.
